Hello,

I am experiencing frequent crashes of my X Server and I am trying to figure
out why.

My system was stable for quiet some time, but not anymore.
As far as I can tell, everything has begun after I installed the Hauppauge
Nexus-s with the vdr 1.2.x software and dvb-1.0.x drivers. During this time
I also upgraded my NVIDIA graphic driver to version 1.0.4496. Now my X
server is restarted from time to time with no obvious reason. Sometimes it
is enough to move a Window in KDE to make it happen.Even without dvb
drivers loaded. Sometimes the system is completely frozen with
Caps Lock and Scroll Lock keys blinking.

I can not find any error messages in the logs (/var/log/*)

I am wondering if this may be a hardware problem. Is it possible that my
power supply is to weak and just can not stand the additional TV card? How
would a computer behave if the power supplay is to weak?

I am running SuSE 8.2 with the following hardware:

ABIT KT7A w/ 300 W power supply
Athlon XP 1800+
512 MB RAM (PC133 Infineon)
Graphic Card:
ELSA Gladiac Geforce II MX 32 MB
  nVidia Corporation NV11 [GeForce2 MX/MX 400] rev 161
Ethernet:
  LevelOne PCI 10/100 MBit
Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 16)
ISDN:
  AVM Fritz PCI
AVM Audiovisuelles MKTG & Computer System GmbH A1 ISDN [Fritz] (rev 2)
SCSI:
  Symbios Logic PCI
  Tekram Technology Co.,Ltd. TRM-S1040 (rev 1)
Sound:
  Soundblaster 512 PCI
Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 8)
TV Card:
  Hauppauge Nexus-s PCI
  Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 1)
Disc:
  IBM IC35L040AVER07-0 (40 GB)
  Maxtor 6Y060L0 (60 GB)
  TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-M1502
  RICOH CD-R/RW MP7125A

I have checked the memory and it is ok. The software is uptodate.
I have set nosmp and noapic in the boot loader.

Does anybody have any idea what is going on?

I appreciate your help.
Matthias
