I just read that mandrake made a small error with their latest - it
has a nasty habit of destroying your cdrom hardware.... (see
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/54/33648.html )

I've also heard (but don't have a link) that Mandrake is over 600 Mb
in patches already, and they just shipped last week. Sounds like they
did no testing at all.

On top of those, there are other horror stories I and others can tell
you about Mandrake. I think I'd drop that one from your list. Other
than that, I agree, although I think I'd recommend researching the
Redhat / Fedora issue before getting in too deep.
