Is XP too slow?

Is windows XP too slow compared to windows 2000?

What would be a better choice for a computer with a 733 Mhz Pentium 3
CPU, 768 of RAM and a 30 gig hard drive, with
a 2nd 20 gig hard drive? Would 2000 be faster than XP?

I use Linux all the time and am a bit ignorant about Windows.

Please help.
