Let's not go off on a tangent of specific syntactic changes. Suffice it
to say that in most cases, all it takes is a slight revision to shut up
a warning. And in this way, developers can make the code compile
relatively cleanly. If there are a handful of warnings they can't get
rid of, these can be documented so that users and future developers
won't be caught off guard by them.
