Is it an Asrock K7S8X by any chance? Add the 'noapic' option during boot
(In Knoppix, when you get the boot: prompt: knoppix noapic, in
lilo.conf, add append=noapic to the stanza.
XP will probably come back with a rescue reinstall. 2003 Server will
not, and needs a full reinstall.
