A very excellent explanation. Thank you very much for taking the time
to explain the RAID thing. I don't think that only doing hd0,0 is
going to solve the problem, because I am pretty sure that I did that
first, and only started trying to do both of them as a last resort.
But, your post was very informative, and as soon as I get time today I
will go through step-by-step now that I have a better idea of how to
troubleshoot the issue. To answer one of your questions (and I am
guessing that this will elicit a groan from some), I am updating the
kernel via Redhat's up2date function. It always worked in the past...
 By the way, I used a WIndows boot disc because some page I read said
that that was the standard method of doing it. I also saw the info on
"dd" -- if it comes to that, I will use dd.
