Not very useful, but can be handy if you add some imaginations. I
have 2 profiles on my desktop running Mozilla 1.6. One profile is for
my normal browsing. For that profile, I have all those nasty things
turned off: java script, java, page-defined colours, page-defined font
shapes/sizes, pop-ups. With all these things off, the browsing is
much smoother, even when I'm running heavy background jobs.
The other profile, I use it for "dirty" browsing. That one has all
those nasty things enabled, because some sites do not work without
these nasty things. So, I run a second instances of Mozilla for these
dirty browsing. Sometimes, Mozilla can really hang with all these
bells and whistles turned on. Then, I have to kill this dirty
instance. Sometimes, it simply crashes and commits suicide.
(Sometimes, it's just the JVM that is in an apparently infinite loop.
But killing the JVM causes Mozilla to die, too.) No problem, the
other "clean" instance of Mozilla is still running, with some 30 pages
still opened in 4 or 5 frames.
I hate the fact that Mozilla doesn't like me to run 2 or more
instances of it under the same profile. The option of having multiple
profiles (under the same login name) has relieved this annoyance. :)
