Same one you were looking at the LC2210.

No- but see below.

Not familiar with those but once I get it back together I will see what I
can find out.

I'm not fond of the touchpad because I do use the computer on my lap, and I have a
big thumb. It does occassionally get in the way and put the cursor where
I don't want it to be. Is sometimes embarrassing.

The KB is different from what I am used to but no great issue, No 2 of
the 5 that I use are identical.

Not sure what you mean here - It DOES get warm but not as bad as the IBM
770E that I had been using. It is no problem keeping it on my legs for
long periods of time. The IBM quite often required a "cushion" between IT
and my legs.

I have run on battery in excess of 2.5 hours and only had one occassion
when it shut down. Since I didn't (still don't) know the process for an
orderly recovery I just did a reboot. It seemed to indicate that it had
gone into sleep mode quite orderly. I just wasn't paying enough
attention.

Right now I am in the process of TOTALLY reconstructing the software and
have decided to make a dual boot system out of it. W2k (which has to be
installed first) has at least identified most of the hardware and I
am locating current drivers and picking up some NEW linux information in
the process. I still have had no reply from LinuxCertified regarding my
mail requesting the specs. The touchpad BTW, is a Synaptics model 1 that
LinuxCertified obviously had properly configured that I totally messed up.

By the end of the week I hope to have it all back together and working.
It will have W2K and Fedora Core 1 if I do it right.

I NEEDED a laptop and preferred Linux. Unlike many, I consider the PC and
the software to be 2 separate entities so I have no real complaints about
LinuxCertified. The hardware is satisfactory, and by ads I still see
today, better than fairly priced. The software they installed (RH9)
worked well till I started messing with it so I can't blame them for that one.

Whether or not I will get the CD writer to work is the only thing that
still concerns me but if it will function under W2K I will then know that
it is a setup issue in Linux.
