Every time I remove a USB storage device (camera, mp3 player, hd etc) I get
a Kernel Panic and have to plug out the power to reboot my computer.
It is not an X thing, even if I go to runlevel 1 before I unplug it I get
the same Kernel Panic.
I have no idea about where to look for a solution. The message I get in
dmesg when I plug it in looks as follows:

> usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x4b0/0x116) is not claimed by any
> active driver. Starting timer : 0 0
> Vendor: Nikon Model: NIKON DSC E2100 Rev 1.00
> Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI
> revision: 02
> Starting timer : 0 0
> Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi 1, chanel 0, id 0, lun 0
> SCSI device sda 503808 512-byte hdwr sectors (258 MB)
> sda: Write Protect is off

It doesn't look too good I think but I am a linux newbie so I am not sure.
The "is not claimed by any active driver" part is what looks a little bit
bad to me. When I plug in another usb-device (scanner) it attaches itself to
scanner0 after a sec or so which seems like a good thing.
Do I maybe need to ad a device for my usb-storage to attach to? Or to I just
need to tell it where to attach itself?
If I put the camera on ptp instead of mass storage it works without a
problem. And there are no problems mounting any of the devices and reading
or writing from them and I get no errors when I umount the device. It is not
until I unplug them I get kernel panic. Maybe I need to "turn of the usb
connection"?
I use a redhat enterprise 3 derivate on a new Thinkpad. W hi boot the
computer it initializes 2 USB controllers I think, at least it says

usb-uhci ok
ehci-hcd ok

Any pointers would be appreciated
The actual Kenrel Panic message I get look something like this, I had to
retype it so everything is not there but it starts with the call stack
