Hi. I downloaded the Knoppix 3.4 run-from-CD iso, burned it to a CDR, and
successfully booted my laptop (Thinkpad T40; hda1 = NTFS from XP Pro) into
2.6.6 and X. I want to make sure it will support my wireless NIC -- lspci
says it's a "Network Controller: Intel Corp. PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini
PCI Adapter (rev 04)" -- before I commit and do something drastic to XP.
The module "wl3501_cs" loads without errors, but I don't know if it's the
correct one. Has anyone done this?
Also, the 2.6.6 docs on NTFS say that read/write is supported (unlike under
2.4; complete rewrite of NTFS code), but under Knoppix, even if I mount hda1
rw, I get "permission denied" trying to write to it. (I'm root.) What's
the deal here?
If I can't get writing to the hard drive to work, I guess I'll have to make
a tarball on a floppy containing the changed files, until I'm sure it works.
