Due to some infrequent but annoying instabilities with my Mandrake Linux
9.2 system, on an Abit NF7-S (nForce2) motherboard, I have changed my
lilo.conf file and changed "acpi=ht" to "acpi=off" and added
"pci=nolacpi", as suggested by some searches to my problems. I am now
getting a much cleaner "dmesg", with less weird ACPI messages. I also
turned off the loading of acpid.
However, now my computer will not shut off automatically - I have to
hold down the on/off button to get it to turn off, whereas before, it
did turn off aoutomatically.
Any ideas how to fix this?
