Hi
Debian Sarge running KDE.
I have used K3B in the past without any problems, but after a period of a
month (during which many packages might have been upgraded), I tried to
burn a data CD today.
When I fired up K3B, I found a warning message indicating that cdrecord
permissions were set to root.root and it might lead to performance
problems. I looked into K3Bsetup but it did not give me any relevant
options. So I started anyways.
The buffer fills up to 98 %, 5 % written, and then the CD burner goes wild
- lots of noise but top indicates no relevant process running or even
taking up CPU time.
I cancelled and retried with cdrecord permission change check unchecked in
K3Bsetup, found the following debugging o/p :

Before I had unchecked the permissions change on cdrecord (in K3Bsetup) and
unchecked burn on the fly, I had this additional error message :
faio_wait_on_buffer for writer timed out.
The drive is now locked and only a reboot will let me remove the (wasted)
CD.
What is going on ?
Thanks.
