In Slackware, at least Slackware-9.1 :
cat /etc/slackware-version #> Slackware 9.1.0
cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.4.24 (root@slack91) \
(gcc version 3.2.3) #6 Tue Feb 17 23:48:09 PST 2004
Only '@slack91' for indicating slackware in /proc/version, not verbose.
