vi + latex problem

Hi

On my Debian Sarge system, I recently installed a vi related package that I
do not remember but the symptoms now are that whenever I open a .tex file
with vi, it gives me a somewhat "typeset" version of the actual markup. It
does a fairly poor job of it, and I would like to be able to see the actual
code instead of this.

Does any of this ring a bell ? I want to get rid of the offending package.

Thanks.
