problem with rpm install

[I posted this on the Suse list and got no reply]
I have a Suse 9.1 system, I tried to install a Mozilla-firebird rpm on
the system and was not able to. I received a segmentation fault.
I then tried to install some updates for kaffeine, Apache, and kde3 and
none of these worked.
I'm not getting any error messages other than a segmentation fault
during the install.

Any ideas on where I could look for an error message for the problem,
that might indicate what is causing the installs to fail?
