When we juxtapose Solaris and linux we notice
that linux doesnt stand in extenso. Probably linux
developers were not able to cover whole nine yards
When you leaf through linux libraries you will notice
that linux libraries lack lot of interfaces that is
supported by Solaris. But however for some of them
you will find alternative interfaces that provide
the same functionality.
I was leafing through the linux libraries as
usual, suddenly i saw that header file proc_service.h
which is found in solaris side, is missing. I did
a double take, because more than 20 functions that
start with name ps_* are missing. These are the process
service interfaces that are found on Solaris but not on
Linux. I thought this much evidence is sufficient to
impugn on linux supportablity.
Ok Linux geeks give answer to my question?? Did
Linux left these interfaces because it felt these are
obsolete or its library has alternative functions to
provide the same functionality.
