Say what about what? I can accept that you're annoyed by
the status quo. I'm happy enough with my script that I'm
trying to spend most of my time on more urgent things.
The beauty of open source is that if you want something
changed, all you have to do is submit a patch. If the
project leaders approve of your coding, the program has
changed, and you're a hero--at least to yourself. :-)
For example, I didn't like the way Mozilla failed to honor
the standard X geometry option and resource, so I coded a
patch that worked as well as I could do. The project
leaders didn't like it and rejected it. Oh, well.
I didn't like the way mplayer audio, text mode displayed
time in whole seconds rather than hh:mm:ss.t, so I coded up
a patch and it (or an improved version) has apparently
become part of the code base. An audio recording program I
wanted to use didn't have a peak level indicator, so I coded
up one. The project leaders wanted a graphical indicator
rather than a numeric one, so they implemented that.
Good luck.
