I'm putting together a server for my home automation use. I'll
be using Misterhouse and Asterisk along with a bunch of other software
for daemons to interface to equipment. I will run X on the machine
though most of the interface will be via a remote X session. I
particularly like the SYSV init scripts (/etc/init.d/...) and prefer
my Linux to follow the AT&T look of *nix (don't worry if you don't
understand that comment). So far I've used RH up to 9.0, Fedora I (I
don't like Fedora anymore because the users are being used as test
rats too much by RH). I'm checking out Gentoo (don't know if it
support SYSV init). I should also check Slackware (I used to use that
until about Linux 1.x). So my question is; do you have any
recommendations along these criteria?
