In the example you give, it is someone known to you, someone formally
introduced at some point, who has a convenient name for informal use. In
this case, "name" is all we have. There is no basis for comparison.

Because real people cannot do this. Someone who always uses a nickname and
never uses his real name cannot expect to be accorded the rights and
privileges granted to a real person. It would be like being introduced to
someone who then and forever afterward used a nickname and never revealed
his identity. You would quickly surmise that he was wanted by the police.

I am not clear why you were forced to assume an alias. There is a greater
weight given to posts accompanied by real names.
