You really think it is that easy?
Whether I follow your advice or not, it does not print, though for
different reasons, neither of which I understand.
1.) If file /etc/cups/client.conf contains
ServerName myhost.domain [the right address, of course]
then when I try to print, I get:
root[/etc/cups]# ls -l | lpr
lpr: error - no default destination available.
1a.) I could then print by using:
root[/etc/cups]# ls -l | lpr -P lp
2.) If I comment _ServerName myhost.domain_ out, I get:
root[/etc/cups]# ls -l | lpr
root[/etc/cups]#
and get _no printing_ though it is enqueued, and the server gets a message
evert 10 seconds until I clean out the queue with lprm.
So by following your advice, I have my choice of failure modes, but there
is no success mode. Somehow I need better documentation, as does the O.P.,
though we have different systems.
