*Which* video player did you try, and what is its version number? Which
version of which distro are you using, and is your machine an x86 or
something else? (Certain video formats don't have open decoders yet,
therefore they have to rely on Windows DLLs, which makes it impossible
to play them on a PPC or Alpha.) Start mplayer or xine or whatever
you're using from an xterm/konsole like so:
mplayer some_divx_file.avi
...and pay attention to all the error messages that show up. You might
want to post them in a followup to this message. It'd be useful to know
what the video player identifies the file as (DiVX-4, Microsoft Foobar
5, whatever.) After you installed libdivx in /usr/local , did you
remember to run ldconfig so that ld.so can find the new libraries?
