I'm running a MVME5100 (ppc) with the 2.4 kernel as a diskless system
(NFS root)

It boots and runs fine. When trying to run a 2.6.7 kernel, the mount of
the root filesystem during boot fails with a timeout.

Working system:
.
.
.
> P: routing cache hash table of 16 buckets, 2Kbytes
> TCP: Hash tables configured (established 128 bind 210)
> IP-Config: Complete:
> device=eth0, addr=146.88.2.42, mask=255.255.255.0, gw=146.88.2.167,
> host=alfalfa, domain=, nis-domain=(none),
> bootserver=146.88.2.27, rootserver=146.88.2.27 rootpath=
> NET4: Unix domain sockets 1.0/SMP for Linux NET4.0.
> Looking up port of RPC 100003/2 on 146.88.2.27
> Looking up port of RPC 100005/1 on 146.88.2.27
> VFS: Mounted root (nfs filesystem) readonly.
> Mounted devfs on /dev
.
.
.
The 2.6.7 build gets portmap timeouts for each of the RPC port lookups.
Basically:

> Looking up port of RPC 100003/2 on 146.88.2.27
> portmap server 146.88.2.27 not responding, timeout

The server has not changed.

The 2.6.7 .config has the same options as the 2.4 build. The only major
difference is I have selected the preemptable kernel option.

Any ideas where to start looking? I've googled this to death with no
results. Similar problems involved server issues but my server has not
changed (solaris box)

Thanks!
