Yeah. My colleague did it in one week. :-) It's okay, if you need some
extra ordinary system. But for desktop, or even servers, that's not
worth the effort, and the time.
With Debian, you can have a nice and stable system in a day. One thing
to be added. Debian distributes it's system in 3 different
distributions. Stable, unstable, and testing. You should chouse one. If
you go for stable distro, it'll install quite old packages. For example
gtk+-1.2.10... :-) For server proposes, it's okay. The testing distro
contains the up to date stuff, like KDE3.0 or whatever. Personaly, I
don't use that craps, but it's up to you. Morover, you can mix up the
distros. You can install the base system from stable, and have the shiny
new things from the testing or unstable.
