There _is_ (at least) one very good objective reason to use
Mandr* rather than Fedora. Mandrake, traditional Redhat,
and IIUC most other distros backport security patches and
bug fixes into the original version of a package. Fedora's
stated policy is to jump to the current/newest version of
the package. In cases where the new version of a package
has API or user interface changes from the original version,
any security update could require tweaking of local scripts
and other accomodation to adapt to the new package. This
risk is a significant negative.
