FWIW, you may notice that the content of
http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers looks remarkably like the
contents of /etc/services, minus the initial explanatory comments.

That's primarily because /etc/services is a stripped down version of the
webpage (or conversly, the webpage is an expanded /etc/services).
