Linux can run on "IBM Compatibles" and Macs and other types of computers
because the operating system is ported to those other systems. They are
written in high level code, and then compiled for the specific computer/CPU.
I can't run the version of Linux I'm using right now on my Mac because
this isn't a Mac. I'd have to buy or download a version that ran on
the Mac.
Clearly this will answer your question since you did post it to a Linux
newsgroup.
And yes, likely you can find a version of Linux that will run on your
operating system-less computer.
Otherwise, find an appropriate newsgroup to ask your question.
