On 2.2.15, the ram disk may exhibit a completely different behaviour.
But that's not important in your case, as we'll see below.

I *can* create a ram disk with more than 8 MB in size. If you can't,
then sorry, we can stop right here as you will not be able to reproduce
the test. Apart from this, you seem reluctant to contribute anything
remote helpful to this topic.
