On Sunday 27 November 2005 18:20, news@absamail.co.za stood up and
spoke the following words to the masses in /alt.os.linux.mandrake...:/

You'd get more help if you were to say what application this might be.
Yet you prefer going off on a rant, which is not exactly going to get
you much help /or/ sympathy...

Now you've got me confused. Are you trying to set up X11 on RedHat? To
my knowledge, there are two configuration utilities for that:
/Xconfigurator/ and - if my memory serves me right - /XF86Config./

You could also have taken a look in */sbin* or */usr/sbin* and the
likes. And /bash/ has command completion.
Next to all of that, you could simply have typed...
apropos XFree86
... and you would have gotten a useful list of utilities and /man/
pages.

See above...

In that case, you are only channeling the frustration of your own -
shall we say - /incompetence/ towards those who _are_ competent.
If you want to master your system, then you must _learn_ how it works.
You could just as easily have taken a look at */etc/X11/XF86Config* -
or wherever it is stored - and hand-edited the one on the other box.

You should learn more about the way the system is set up. GUI tools are
only front-ends, and GUI configuration tools store their data in the
same files that would otherwise be edited from a CLI environment.

Microsoft has _no_ respect whatsoever for any user's investments. All
they care about is that you buy their products, which partly explains
why their products are of such low quality.
But hey, if you prefer Windows, then be my guest. Nobody's forcing you
to use GNU/Linux, and GNU/Linux is not a substitute for Windows - it's
a kind of operating system that Windows can't even begin to touch.
