It's very possible that I was wrong - that has happened more than once in
the past. I have never tried a MDK upgrade, and the main reason I did one
with Ubuntu was that I installed 5.04 on a new disk a few months ago and
it was still relatively 'fresh' when 5.10 came out, so I didn't have a lot
to lose. I am now in a situation where I have a MDK install which will be
replaced by another computer, so before I pull the plug, I'll give that a
shot - I had been under the impression that to do a MDK upgrade you still
had to download and burn the CDs - evidently that is not so; but I have
seen a lot of comments to the effect that it's MUCH better to do a fresh
install.
