Newbie Question

I have a group of users who have lost there Linux support. They have a
machine running rh version 9.

They asked me to add Samba to one of there machines so they can backup some
important files to a ntework resource. I have tried doing this with Wiley
Publication's Red Hat Linux 9 Bible and I seem to have missed something.

I don't know what type of install was done. When I do a smbstatus it can't
find the file to run. If I look at services I can't see smb (should I be
able to?).

I don't know were to start on this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
