Problem using user .printcap file in LPRng

I am trying to set up printing using a local .printcap file in the
users home directory but when I run checkpc, it does not appear to be
picking it up. It only picks up entries in the /etc/printcap file. I
have checked lpd.conf and it is using it's default setting of .printcap
as the local printcap file. Is there anything else I am missing? I
have looked through the LPRng howto but it does not give any more
clues.

regards,
Aidan
