Linux internet through router

I am new to this group so if this is not the appropriate place to ask
this question let me know and I will move on.
I want to set up one of my computers with Ubuntu and try it out. I
plan to use it with 4 other computers I have in my house that share
internet access through a hardwire SMC router. The 4 existing
computers are running winxp. Two of the computers are funneled through
a Dlink wireless router daisy chained to the smc.
My question is, will I be able to access the internet through the smc
router with the machine running Ubuntu? Will I be able to use a
wireless pci nic card under Ubuntu to go through the Dlink or would I
be better off hard wiring to the smc?
If it is possible to do this will it be difficult considering the Dlink
requires a static ip to be set on each computer using it since DHCP
doesn't work on a daisy chained dlink.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
