It sounds like you have an image created with dd (which is not a
Linux-only program) which you need to read a file (happens to be
a Linux kernel) from.

It's a Windoze question, so here's a Windoze answer - you'll find
WinImage will read floppy disk images created with dd.  Only $30
for something you can do under Linux for free!


I read not so long ago about a way of accessing the raw devices under
Windows.  Unfortunately I can't remember even the keywords used, so
it would take me quite some time to find back to it. (They did of
course not call it "raw device".)

To use it, if I recall correctly, you will have to write a small
C program or so, you only need Visual Studio for $... :)

Or install cygwin, gnu cc, ...

And of course search the Knowledge Base until you hit upon the magic
term they used for it.  I proper Windows ng will perhaps help you
out here.
