odd bugs using ATI drivers XOrg and 9600XT

Just installed Fedora Core 4 with XOrg 6.8.2.
Using a Radeon 9600XT.
The default display settings work great. 1280x1024 at 75Hz refresh.
But then I installed the binary Linux drivers from ATI, and now I can't
get above 60Hz refresh.
Also, the display crashes when I log off.
Any ideas?

Here's the bottom half of my xorg.conf the ATI driver creates, which
isn't any different from the pre-ATI conf file except for the addition
of the ATI subsections.

Thanks for any help!
