OCR and linux; text and equations

Hi,
I've scanned some book pages, including text and equations. I have processed
them with Abby Finereader (ocr program for window$) and with Kooka (similar
program but for Linux). The main conclusion for me is that Abby works much
better than Kooka "recognizing" text, but anyway, they can't "recognize" or
"scan" equations.
What I'm looking for is an OCR program for Linux but better than Kooka and
optionally the possibility of "recognising" equations, and exporting them to
openoffice or latex.
Thanks.
.
