Hi,

I connect my PPPoE modem through USB for which i have
installed modules, but when i run adsl-setup or rp-pppoe i dont know the

modem is smartAX MT841. Thank you

You say you've installed modules, but you don't specify *which* modules
you've installed. What driver module does your USB modem use? That may
provide some clue as to what device you should be using.

I would guess that manhandling your eth0-setup is NOT the right path to
go. What makes you think that the PC should handle the ADSL protocol?
From what I can see at
<http://www.huawei.com/products/terminal/products/view.do?id=86>
the box gives you an ADSL-plug, 4 Ethernet plugs and the usual power, USB
control&config (assumed: Win-only programs is present if at all) and misc.
other undecipherable plugs and whatsit's.
The picture leads me to believe that what you need to do is to get into
the setup on the box - either 1) via one of the ethernet plugs (which I
assume to belong to some built-in switch or hub) and some browser
connecting to whatever IP-address the box might have(xx) or 2) via the USB
plug and associated Win-software. Then you set up the various items in
what menus you might meet in there and you should be good to go.
I had an old ISDN-router. That did NOT make it necessary for me to run any
ISDN-aware things on any of the boxes connected to it - pure Ethernet on
the 'inside'.
My current ADSL box works as described too.
