It's probably more popular than you realize. BSD'ers are just not as
clamerous as Linux users. One of the largest web hosting companies,
Ipower, uses FreeBSD, and if memory serves, Hotmail ran on FreeBSD for
a couple years before M$ got its act together. BSD in all its guises
is alive and well.

FWIW - on my Debian Sarge install (3.1r1 -- 2.6.8-2-i386)-- you'll note
that via CTRL-ALT-F1 (2,3,4,5) -- I see this message;
