Maybe the simplest approach might work. Configure each one
independently to make sure each display works with each device as
standalone monitors. This involves physically unplugging one monitor
and sometimes disabling the AGP from becoming primary. After you have
proven that each standalone set works, turn xinerama ON, making sure
that the position marked by x,y coordinates in serverlayout map
correctly. Doing it incorrectly causes problems, or if you're lucky,
you get 2 desktops (yuk). If you have attempted this then ignore this
step. But say you did get them to work but needs more tweaking, KDE's
control center can be very helpful here.

I think actually I was going for 2 desktops. I was going to experiment with/without Xinerama once I had the 2 things working
I actually did say they work one at a time. In fact, I can boot with the AGP being what comes up in TTY, and then have X configured to kick in on the other screen. I just can't get them to both work at the same time.

What I love about the 7000 and its dual out is I can specify Multimodes
e.g. "1600x1200-1400x1050" where the left side is for the 21in screen
and the right is for the 17in screen. I know the other out is meant for
TV/LCD but this came with an adapter to allow VGA/CRT screens. (Or
would you rather insist on using that Stealth card?) Word of warning
using ATI for both: DRI gets disabled in xinerama, and framerates will
not get as high as those with single monitor setups. Unless I messed up
royally.

it's a single head Radeon, I didn't go in for the VE model.
I have 2 outputs, one on each card, it's initialising the 2nd card that seems to crash the system.
