The cost of the repeater(s) would probably be about the same as 1000 feet of fibre optic cable. Wired would be faster (up to gigabit speeds) and more secure, but may not be practical depending upon what's between those two houses. Wireless is probably more practical than stringing fibre through the neigbours' yards or across the street.
