My USB drive is /dev/sde; the hdparm command fails with this message:
HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(identify) failed: Invalid argument
(the command works fine for /dev/sda - /dev/sdd, which are internal
SATA drives in a RAID array, and, of course, it works fine for
/dev/hda).
Is it possible to determine the serial number of a USB harddrive in
Linux?
