Hi,
I have a PC with Redhat 7.3 and I can download the Fedora 5 files
either onto that PC or another PC also running Redhat 7.3.
Which should I do and once I mount it (somewhere) will be able to
completely replace the Redhat 7.3 and all filesystems with Fedora?
I tried burning CDs from the iso files _without success_.
You should figure out how to burn CDs from .iso files _with success_.
Something like
cdrecord -v image1.iso
etc.
OR Does any recommend an alternative Linux version to download -
something that goes with Oracle perhaps?
If you want to run Oracle or some other large supported application suite
like that, I recommend you run a distribution supported by the manufacturer,
such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux or the SuSE equivalent. If you cannot
afford either of those, consider CentOS 4.3 (if you have a recent version of
Oracle or IBM DB2).
This is not to say that Oracle will not run on something else, such as
Fedora Core 5. But if you pay enough for Oracle, the chances are you can
afford a supported distro as well.
thanks!
