Since when? The OP's filter syntax is very similar to my own
(working) filter file, for leafnode 1.11.2 as shipped in
Debian/stable. Are you using a different version of leafnode perhaps?

I tried it in the mean time. As expected, doesn't work. Maybe Balwinder
can share with us which version he is working with ???

But this still leaves my issue open. I hope someone has a solution or
idea where to look!

I switched over to leafnode-2 (though beta/alpha) a few years back, is
working fine for me since then. It provided better filtering features
and, or syntax at that time and even today. Leafnode-2 is available at
http://www.dt.e-technik.uni-dortmund.de/~ma/leafnode/beta/ site.

Till yesterday, I was using leafnode-2.0.0.alpha20060321a and have
recently upgraded to *.alpha20060428a i.e. latest version available in
the darcs repository.
