Re: Kernel 2.4 and widescreen console

Yes, I think I'm about to give up. This was more of a convenience
thing. I'm running 2.4.x on this particular workstation because some
commercial software I'm running doesn't support 2.6. I usually am in X
but I thought it would be nice to have a full screen console.
On other message boards and forums I saw people just plugging in
vga=<mode> options to the kernel boot line and getting their wide
screen setups working. Plus, I saw in
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/fb/matroxfb.txt modes listed for
1600x1200. I thought I'd give it a shot and ask. Maybe someone did this
before and just knew.
