I am running a laptop with Windows XP Pro and Ubuntu linux. I tried to
uninstall Ubuntu by deleting my Linux partitions. When I rebooted I
found an error message from GRUB. To solve that I tried to use the
Windows XP recovery console and run fixmbr and fixboot. After doing
that, I am unable to boot into my XP partition. The XP partition
manager recognises my NTFS partition as an unknown partition.

Are you sure you only deleted the Linux partitions? Is the XP partition
marked active? Try booting the Ubuntu live CD and run "fdisk -l".
