Need OCR recommendation.

I got a scanner at a garage sale for $5.00, took it home, plugged it in
and it worked...woohoo!!.

The only reason I would want a scanner is to reduce the physical size of
my book collection so I need some OCR software.

Google searches result in all kinds of packages.

I'd appreciate some recommendations.
