Well, I use the Postfix MTA (Mail Transport Agent) which allows rewriting of
mail head names, inbount or outboud. I can see how to rewite the three
different inbound names to Bob's single account, but there is only one
output rule for a single user.
When I send mail outbound from my bittwister account, Postfix changes the
From: bittwister@xxxxxxxxxxxx to my_addy@xxxxxxxxxx
is essentially output from some glorified MTA, which retrieves and sorts
email. I'm not asking about the MTA.
Now the email will come in for different users, but I will have a
separate mailbox for different "aspects" of a user.
So Bob Smith has three mailboxes ( and three or more email addresses ).
One for RobertSmith for serious stuff ( work, church, profesional
organisations, ...)
One for BobSmith for more casual email ( clubs, friends ).
One for BobbySmith for very informal email (
mothers,grandmothers,aunts,girlfriends).
Retrieving and sorting is no problem.
What I want is a gui client that works on individual mailboxes and sends
email with paramters based on which mailbox.
I'll give Thunderbird a try.I can read my mail via mail (command line) or thunderbird (gui).
