Back to Linux

I have been gone for a couple of years but I am back. I can't take M$
anymore and I want to go back to using Linux which I used to use 4
years ago.

I was last using Mandrake but their web page seems to indicate they
have merged.

Anyway I want to ask for some recommendations as to what is best for me
now.

I want a full featured distribution that can run a lot of devices and
has the most modern features. Is easy to use and install comes with
software for DVD, USB, CD writing etc if those things are now
available.

Any suggestions?
