But now thr seems to be a new problem. Im not able to boot into the
desktop as a normal user..I get the login screen but as i enter
username and password of the normal user the machine gets restarted
after 5 sec...It is only as root that I got the desktop...
This is my /var/log/messages

It seems one or more fs are mounted read-only, check 'mount' for
anything related or/and there's a mess in /tmp or your $HOME
preventing gdm from writing there, clean up /tmp and check $HOME
for .Xauthority and alike files not owned by your user.

Good luck

Sir,
What led you to the conclusion that thr is a mess in /tmp.
Though I sorted the problem, /home/danish was 100% full so X, as you
had mentioned was not able to write thr..and because of which it was
not able to start

But Im confused about ur suggestion regarding /tmp

Thank you
Danish
