Those of us that do embedded systems do that all of the time
(write a program that does something useful with no OS
underneath it). That said, even we tend to use a small OS (or
even a large one) when the programs get large and complicated.
Oh I'm quite aware of that - I work with embedded systems myself (TinyOS on
the Atmel AVR, specifically). However, like you said, it's not at all clear
what 'prashant' wants to do in this vein, and whether or not writing a
micro-OS inside his program is worth his while or feasible at all.
