Yes; Jack made an incorrect assumption as to what language, presumably
C++, you are using. I'd say that the blame is as much yours[1] as his,
since you didn't specify in your article.
[1] Yes, someone who knew C++ would infer that it wasn't C, but when
you are asking for assistance you shouldn't make the readers
guess such things.
